As you all may know, PMI Global has institued a new Continuing Certification Requirements System (CCRS) that will impact the way each certified PMI member qualifies to maintain the certification and record Professional Development Units (PDUs).

Please refer to the link to PMI Global’s Web site http://www.pmi.org/GLOBALS/~/media/Files/PDF/Certification/PDU%20CategStructure_Final.ashx  that breaks down the New PDU Category and Structure and Policies that will be effective November 1, 2015.

There are now six new PDU categories that fall into two (2) divisions - Education and Giving Back to the Profession - as illustrated below.

EDUCATIONAL
GIVING BACK TO THE PROFESSION
Category A: Courses offered by PMI’s R.E.P.s or Chapters and Communities
Category D: Creating New Project Management Knowledge
Category B: Continuing Education
Category E: Volunteer Service
Category C: Self-Directed Learning
Category F: Work as a Professional in Project Management

On PMI Global’s web site, please refer to the Crosswalk from old PDU categories to the new categories, which shows how the OLD Categories Map to the NEW Categories.  You will want to read the NEWLY defined Giving Back to the Profession Categories and their new PDU Rules that apply.

Under the heading GIVING BACK TO THE PROFESSION CATEGORIES:
  •  You may not earn more than a total of 45 PDUs in the three “Giving Back to the Profession” categories per cycle if you hold the PMP and PgMP credentials.
  • You may not earn more than a total of 20 PDUs in the three “Giving Back to the Profession” categories per cycle if you hold the PMI-SP and PMI-RMP credentials.
Remember, you are still required to complete 60 PDU’s within a 3 year reporting cycle.
