Joint PMI / NYS Forum Meeting

Presentation Title TBD

CCRS Category: TBD

Presenter: Joan M. Sullivan

Overview:  TBD

Sullivan Joan 11 2017 small

Since November 2012 Joan has been the Executive Director of the NYS Forum, a not for profit organization whose mission is to enhance New York State’s public sector technology (IT) practices through collaboration and knowledge transfer with the New York State IT business and government communities. When she assumed this role, the organization was not fiscally viable and lacked the connection with the IT government leadership. Since Joan took the helm, she worked to develop programs that are consistent with and supportive of government priorities. In addition, she has been successful in obtaining the financial commitment from both New York State and New York City necessary to ensure the fiscal strength and continued growth of the organization.

Prior to that, Joan served in several capacities in New York State ending her government career working for the State Comptroller as the Executive Deputy Comptroller for Operations during which she provided the NYS Comptroller (one of three elected officials in New York State) expert advice and strategy as it relates to the Office’s Statutory and Constitutional Responsibilities. She oversaw an organization of more than 650 professionals responsible for the operations of New York State’s administrative functions including the Payroll for all state agencies as well as the State and City Universities, Accounting, Financial Reporting, Procurement Approval, Payments and the NYS Abandoned Property Program. Through a consistent focus on efficiency and effectiveness in government, Joan constantly challenged the organization to better customer service whether it was to another division, agency or the public. Working in a governance capacity she oversaw the successful development and implementation of the State Financial System (SFS), one of the largest and most complex public sector ERPs (Enterprise Resource Planning) in the nation!

More impressive is that during this time Joan successfully used her leadership skills to raise 3 kids who have turned into 3 awesome adults!
