Presenter: Margaret Becker, Deputy Comptroller, Contracts and Expenditures
So you have the training and the tools necessary to be an effective Project Manager. But do you have the understanding required to satisfy your leader’s goals and objectives? Are you aligned with their vision? Do you have the ability to effectively communicate the progress of your project?
How do you manage expectations, and what happens when the project is misaligned with your benefactor’s expectations? The audience will walk away with insight from a leader's perspective to help you be successful in your projects.
Margaret Becker was appointed Deputy Comptroller for Contracts and Expenditures in September 2009. She joined OSC in January 2008 as the Deputy Comptroller for Budget and Policy Analysis. Prior to that, Becker served as Deputy New York State Chief Information Officer for the New York State Office of the Chief Information Officer/ Office for Technology. Previously, she served more than twenty years in New York State government in managerial positions at several organizations, including the Department of Agriculture and Markets, the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York and the Division of the Budget. Becker began her professional career at the New York Sea Grant Institute in 1982 as a policy analyst.
Becker is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in English and a Master’s of Public Administration degree. She currently lives in Albany County.

Attitude adjustment will begin at 5:30pm with dinner at 6:00pm, followed by the program starting promptly at 7:00pm and adjourning by 8:00pm.
Pricing for 2017-2018. To ensure an accurate number of dinners, we have created an early bird discount for those paying in advance. $30.00 for Early Bird, PMI UNY Chapter members; $40.00 for Early Bird, nonmembers; and $20 for Early Bird students. To receive the early bird discount, please pay in advance. Those who do not register by noon on the Monday for the dinner and choose to pay at the door will not get the early bird discount and will be charged the $10 late fee - $50 for members, $60 for nonmembers, and $40 for students.
The early bird deadline for online registration is 12:00 noon on Monday before the dinner (cancellations after 12:00 noon on Monday will be charged the full meeting registration fee). Please note that registrations after the early bird deadline of 12:00 noon on Monday will be charged the full price as indicated above. Walk-ins on the day of the event are on a first come, first served basis with limited availability and will be charged the full price plus a $10 late fee.
