Do you love going to shows at Proctors Theater? Have you wondered what it looks like behind the scenes? Join us on Saturday, March 23rd at 2:00pm for a full history of the theater and the man who built it, Frederick Freeman Proctor! Our tour guide will be traced from its opening days as a vaudeville theater to the present day. Also included will be its architecture and major expansion which allows it to hold any show featured on Broadway, no matter how large and involved the sets might be.
The stage workings will be explained before the tour moves to the new cross over area and then heads to the dressing rooms, mezzanine and balcony. We also include a small museum which was the original theater manager's office and large window exhibits in the arcade which leads to the theater entrance. The windows feature Mr. Proctor when he began his career as a circus performer, early theater memorabilia and the many early theaters in Schenectady during the turn of the century.
Cost: FREE. All donations go to the Proctor’s History Committee which supports new exhibits.
Registration: Open until March 15th at noon. We are expecting a large turnout for this tour. There is no limit to the number of participants. Sign up NOW!
Where to Meet: We will meet in the arcade across from the box office at 1:45 pm.
PDU’s: One PDU will be given for attending the tour.
Lunch: Following the tour, we will go to Mexican Radio for lunch. The cost of lunch will be at your expense. They offer a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free lunch options as well as a variety of meat and dietary substitutions.
