PMI-UNY presents Listening to the Earth, Healthy Soil, Healthy Food and a Healthy Planet for our Children and Grandchildren.
We will explore the way permaculture and project management have played a role in the evolution of the nonprofit Center for Regenerative Ecology, Education & Enterprise Development (CREEED) as it has emerged over more than a decade.
CREEED (www.integrativepermaculture.com) has a focus on helping young adults to develop skills and capacities relevant to the challenges we face today.
The umbrella initiative has been iterative in the way it has taken form and in the way the Earth has played a vital role in planning the next right step. CREEED hosts a growing cadre of participants ranging from 17 to 70. We believe that building learning communities of those who care about the future of the earth is vital today. As Pope Francis pointed out in his Encyclical, “the Earth is our only home and we humans need to become better friends of the earth if all of life is to thrive on this small and beautiful planet.” As we have become better friends of the earth, we have simultaneously been involved in managing each sub-projects next step and in finding inspiration that directs the way to allocate our energy and resources most appropriately.
About our guest speaker:
Michael has a been an executive coach, consultant and organizational leader with a wealth of in house corporate, technology, non-profit and educational experience. He is a lawyer, business executive, ordained interfaith minister and a skilled group facilitator and educator. He now runs a permaculture non-profit focused on healthy soil, healthy food, healthy people and a healthy planet located at the historic Shaker Mill Inn in New Lebanon New York.
He first came to the Berkshires as a High School student attending performances at Tanglewood. Over the years he returned many times, each trip deepened his love for the place. When Michael had the good fortune to take over the Inn at Shaker Mill Falls .(www.shakermillfalls.com) in New Lebanon New York and to experience the cascading waterfall on the property, he reconnected with his love of the area and the potential of the Inn to become a profitable center for enterprises that could contribute to a healthy way of living on the earth.
