Virtual March Chapter Meeting - Stakeholder Management

PMI-UNY presents:

Title: Stakeholder Management - Best (and Worst) Practices

with Shafer Gaston

6:30PM - 7:30PM (Featured Presentation)

0.5 Power Skills and 0.5 Ways of Working PDU!

Description:

"The tradespace of the Project Manager is communications". If a project were simply a to-do list, there would be no reason to have Project Managers at all. The key trait that separates a Project Manager from a Task Tracker is our ability to communicate. Meeting project requirements is not just about the physical work that is done, but *how* it is done. If you meet your sponsors' requirements, but they don't understand that, have you really delivered customer satisfaction?

Too often, we conduct "Stakeholder Management" in the initiation phase, let it trail off at the planning phase, and suddenly are surprised halfway through execution when things go sideways. In this presentation, we will go over some best (and worst) practices, examine a case study of how a great project failed to get the right buy-in, and talk about what we as Project Managers still have to offer in an age where everyone is looking to cut costs by cutting corners on project management practices.
